Programs

YOUNG CANADA WORKS

This program gives Explore bursary students the opportunity to gain valuable experience working at a summer job in their second official language. Jobs following the summer semester will last three weeks. This work experience is designed to improve your proficiency in French.

You will work approximately 35 hours per week and will receive at least the host province's minimum wage. Please note that students who participate in the program will receive their salary at the end of August. Since board and lodging will be at your expense, you will need to make necessary financial arrangements to cover those costs.

Qualifications

You must be:

- Between 16 and 30 years old; a Canadian citizen, or eligible to work in Canada - Available to work following the Explore program
- Prepared to work in your language of immersion
- A secondary or post-secondary student who intends to return to school

There are only 10 places available and you must be available to work during the three (3) weeks following the end of the five-week language immersion.

You can contact at: explore@ualberta.ca for further inquiries/information, or simply wait and see Stéfany Pelletier, who is in charge of Young Canada Works, upon arrival. The enrollment in this extra program will take place in La Pocatière, during the regular Explore program.
