Diplomas and Graduation

At Collège de Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, we celebrate both academic achievement and personal growth through two important distinctions: the Québec Secondary School Diploma (DES), awarded by the Québec Ministry of Education, and our own College Diploma.

These diplomas recognize not only students’ academic achievements but also the personal qualities, values, and life skills they have developed throughout their educational journey. Each diploma represents an important step toward the future, reflecting the dedication, perseverance, and accomplishments of our graduates.

Québec Secondary School Diploma (DES)

The Québec Secondary School Diploma (DES), awarded by the Québec Ministry of Education (MEQ), marks the successful completion of secondary education in Québec.

To earn this diploma, students must accumulate 54 credits, including at least 20 credits at the Secondary 5 level or in vocational training, and successfully complete the following courses:

  • Language of Instruction (Secondary 5)
  • Mathematics (Secondary 4)
  • Second Language (Secondary 5)
  • Science and Technology or Applied Science and Technology (Secondary 4)
  • History and Citizenship Education (Secondary 4)
  • Arts Education (Secondary 4)
  • Ethics and Religious Culture or Physical Education and Health (Secondary 5)

With a minimum passing grade of 60% in each required course, the DES opens the door to a wide range of educational and career opportunities, including CEGEP (Québec’s pre-university and technical college system), vocational training, and other postsecondary pathways.

At our College, we believe that education goes beyond academic achievement. We place great importance on each student’s personal development, individual strengths, and contributions to the school community.

In addition to the Québec Secondary School Diploma, students may earn our own College Diploma, a special distinction recognizing both their academic accomplishments and their personal growth.

This diploma celebrates the qualities that define our graduate profile, including commitment, social responsibility, leadership, and personal development.

For families, the College Diploma is a meaningful source of pride. It reflects not only their child’s academic success but also the strong values, essential life skills, and personal qualities they have developed throughout their years at CSA.

Our graduates leave the College equipped with a solid academic foundation and the confidence to become responsible, engaged citizens who are ready to make a positive impact on the world.
