Studying in Canada

Canada is recognized for its high-quality education system, offering students a supportive learning environment and excellent opportunities for academic and personal growth. Education is managed by each province and territory, meaning that school structures and requirements may vary across the country.

In most Canadian provinces, students complete 12 grades of elementary and secondary education. Québec has its own education system, consisting of six years of elementary school followed by five years of secondary education (Secondary I to V, equivalent to Grades 7 to 11).

Upon successfully completing secondary school, students earn a Québec Secondary School Diploma (SSD). They can then continue their studies at CEGEP, a college-level institution offering pre-university and technical programs, before potentially pursuing university studies.

The school year generally runs from late August to June, with classes held Monday through Friday. School attendance is compulsory until age 16 in Québec.

For international students, studying in Québec offers a unique opportunity to receive a quality education while improving their French-language skills and discovering a rich and vibrant culture.
